Hi I'm Gary

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, also known as "Mormons".

About Me

I am 19 years old and currently live in Connecticut as I prepare to serve a mission. I have been called to serve in the Fortaleza Brazil mission! I have two brothers, one older and one younger and 3 step sisters, all older than me. I lost my Mother at a young age and my dad remarried a few years later. I love sports, particularly wrestling/grappling and football. I also love being in the outdoors and hunting/fishing/camping/hiking.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know this gospel is true. I lived for a long time without it in my life and really didn't strive to want to know everything that I could about it. During that time, my life was not very good and I had what felt like a hole in my life. After some very sad and depressing times and a near death experience, I knew what was missing. I went through the repentance process and am now worthy to serve a mission, I cannot wait. I know this church to be true and I know that at the end of my time here on this earth, I will be reunited with my mom again and with my family that is still here on this earth with me. I know that the words that are found in the scriptures are the words of God and I know that He loves us and knows each and every one of us personally.

How I live my faith

I live my faith be always striving to be a good example. I have many kids that are younger than I am that look up to me and it is my duty to set a standard for them to strive to reach. I am also an assistant scout master. That role involves being surrounded with young men all the time. Because of that, I have an obligation to make sure that while we have fun and learn cool things, we are setting a good example for the younger generations below them.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

We do not worship [Joseph Smith] the Prophet. We worship God our Eternal Father and the risen Lord Jesus Christ. But we acknowledge the Prophet; we proclaim him; we respect him; we reverence him as an instrument in the hands of the Almighty in restoring to the earth the ancient truths of the divine gospel, together with the priesthood through which the authority of God is exercised in the affairs of His Church and for the blessing of His people” (Gordon B. Hinckley, “Joseph Smith Jr.—Prophet of God, Mighty Servant,” Ensign, Dec 2005, 2–6). Show more Show less
