Hi I'm Rachel

I'm from Utah. I love Christ. I love the outdoors, I love creating functional art. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love people. I love to teach, speak and present new ideas. I love helping people grow. I love the country. Horseback ridin', tractor drivin', fence fixin'... cow tippin', I love it all. I love exploring the out doors. Camping, climbing, and kayaking are some of my favorites Im the oldest of 8. I often put my younger siblings to bed by telling them stories. I love my family. I work with wood. I've attended furniture competitions, and even won a lathe at a turning symposium. I currently sell my work.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born into a Mormon family, I believe there comes a point in time when everyone must decide for themselves what they believe. I hit this point in high school, where I didn't know who I was or where I was going, I didn't do well in school, and I hated myself. This resulted in me being cruel and mean to everyone, family, teachers, and friends. One day I learned if a person writes 3 things they are thankful for in a journal everyday it causes their grade point average to go up. Desperate for any type of grade boost I thought "what the heck, I'll try it." This experiment did result was better grades, but more importantly I saw the hand of God in my life. This lead me to say sincere prayers, search and study the scriptures, and attend the temple. Because I started keeping the commandments my relationships improved, I made new friends and hardly ever thought negatively about myself or anyone else. The love, peace, and divine power I felt in my life healed my soul. Thats not the end though. I continue to build my faith everyday. Though it is strong now, it could weaken and die if I am not on guard. I also do this so I can help others find the great joy I have found. I love, love, love, being Mormon. I'm a Mormon because I "experiment upon the word (of Christ)" Alma 32:27 I pray, study, search, and act in faith. I find the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to be true. I can feel it. I know it. I live it. And I love it.

How I live my faith

I love to serve by visiting people. Every other Sunday I spend a couple hours playing the violin for invalids in my community. Sometimes I go on walks around the neighborhood with people from my ward or friends to learn how life is treating them. I have been called as a leader among the sisters of my ward several times. So sometimes I get to teach lessons in church or plan activities. We also discuss the needs of those in our group and what we can do to build each other up.
