Hi I'm Ruth

I grew up in Utah. I'm studying Social Media Marketing at school. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am from Utah and I have lived there all of my life. I have five siblings and I am the third of the six. My interests are related to story-telling. I love to read and experience stories through that medium. I also love musical theater. I love music and how stories can be told through it. I am currently studying social media marketing in school. I have completed my first year of school and am taking a break so I can serve a mission. I have been called to serve in Virginia and am so excited to travel there and serve.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family with a strong history in the church. My family members are all Mormon, but that doesn't mean being a member of this church wasn't a choice for me. My testimony has always been growing gradually, since I was little, but I really became interested when I was in my teens. I've had questions, and as I have had these questions I have turned to my church leaders and to the Book of Mormon. As I have watched general conference, I have gained a knowledge that this church is true, and that the prophets and apostles are called of God. I also have had so many questions answered by the Book or Mormon, and it has become the foundation of my testimony. When I read it, I know that it is true, and if it is true, that means that Joseph was called of God and that he restored Christ's church. Since I have received this witness, I know that I must follow God's commandments and live the gospel. I know for sure that this is the true Church, and I have gained this witness for myself.

How I live my faith

As a teenager, I worked with the adult leaders to plan activities for my fellow youth. I was the president of the group of 16-18 year old girls and I worked with my counselors to serve them.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

The role of missionaries is to invite others to come unto Christ. When they come to your home, they will teach simply the doctrine of Jesus Christ and his church. Their message is intended to bless lives. Show more Show less

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

In this Church, we teach that gender is an essential eternal characteristic. The role of women is to nurture and to serve, as well as to provide their unique counsel and perspective in the home and in the Church. Women also have their own organization in the Church, this is called the Relief Society. This is an organization run by women, and it reaches throughout the world to provide aid to those in need. Women in the church also serve as teachers and leaders, and meet in counsels with priesthood leaders. Show more Show less

How does the Church finance its operations?

Most of church operations are payed for through tithing. Tithing is a commandment from God. Everything we have comes from God, and he asks for a mere ten percent of it back. Church members pay ten percent of their income to the Church, and because of our obedience we receive blessings in abundance, so to members it often feels like it wasn't a sacrifice at all.
