Hi I'm Josh

I grew up in Utah, and I love sports and school. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am serving full time mission in the Baltic States, learning Russian. After I return home, I will be attending college to study math and science. I love sports and competition, and I golf at a competitive level. When I return home, I might make an effort to play golf in college. I am the oldest of six children in my family. There are four boys and two girls.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because what I have learned in the church has helped me live happier and safer. I feel like as a member of the church, I have been able to learn about why I am on the earth and what I am supposed to be doing while I am here. I have learned about the value of helping others and I have felt the positive results of doing so. I have also learned about how much our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, love us, and what we should be doing here so we can return to them after we die. I have felt peace and confidence in what I am doing as a result of what I have learned and done as a member of this church.

How I live my faith

Up until now, I have always been a part of the church's "Young Men" program. For the last four years, I have actively participated in the home teaching program. My dad and I have always been companions, and we have visited five or six families. In high school, I also enjoyed going to seminary. Seminary is a place in my school where people can go to learn about what our scriptures teach. We also learn how to live in a way that will make us happier and enable us to help others. I enjoy attending all three hours of church every week, and the different meetings help me grow in different ways.

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

Whenever we refer to the church in it's official capacity, we call it "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints." The nickname "Mormons" came around because we study and live by the teachings of the Book of Mormon, which we believe is a set of scripture similar to the Bible. Not only is it similar, it is meant to work with the Bible to help us know how we should live our lives. It is like a second testament of Jesus Christ. Because our study of the book is almost completely unique to our church, we are sometimes nicknamed "Mormons." Show more Show less
