Hi I'm Zane Baxter Smith

I'm from Southern California. I love being outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Zane Smith, I'm from Southern California, South Orange County. I am currently serving a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I'm serving in Hong Kong China and feel very blessed that the Lord has entrusted me to teach the people in Asia. Most of whom haven't heard much about the gospel, or even know who Jesus Christ is. After my mission I plan to head back to BYU-Idaho to continue my studies in business. I love the outdoors, and feel privileged to grow up in a place that supports all types of activities. I love surfing and just being out in the ocean, lots of my time growing up was spent around the beach. I love spearfishing, free diving, and just about anything the ocean provides. I love skateboarding, skiing, snowboarding, rugby, lacrosse, and I am an avid NHL fan.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know this church is true. It took me a long time to figure that out. Growing up lots of my friends were so solid in the Church and I didn't have much interest at all. I finally got to the point in my life where it was time to stop relying on what other people said and find out for myself if this Church is something that I want to be involved in. Like I mentioned it took awhile and was something that was a very difficult trial for me. I never had the desire to serve a mission, even as a primary kid, it wasn't something I looked forward to. My friends all left when we were 18, and I was one of the only ones that went to school. I went up to school with absolutely no intention of serving a mission, and was planning on going back for a second or even third year before I would consider serving a mission. It was just another day and I had received the prompting multiple times that I needed to open my mission papers. So I finally listened to the promptings of the spirit, and began to work on my mission papers. During that point in my life I needed to rely on Christ, and I began to see numerous amounts of blessings come into my life. I am still striving to become like him everyday, but now I know why I am doing this.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by my actions. I'm giving up two years of my life to help others come closer to God. This was not an easy thing to do, but I have seen how the gospel has blessed my life. I want to share that joy and happiness with all the people that are willing to listen to it. I live my faith by practicing what I preach, as a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints this is vital in helping people come closer to God.
