Hi I'm Larry

I grew up in Minnesota, USA, primarily of Norwegian descent our family followed Nordic traditions. I am a Mormon

About Me

My wife and I have lived in Cedar Rapids for over 40 years. We have raised nine children here. It has been a good place for them to grow, learn responsibility, to be able to work and see the results of their efforts. Demanding hours at work often made it a challenge to be at home. Now I am retired and enjoying the benefits of hard work through the years. We have had the opportunity to visit children and grandchildren. It is a delight.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was about two years old my parents met missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After a time of learning and investigation they joined the church. I have grown up in the church and have been blessed with the close association of many wonderful people because of my membership. Through decades I have continued to study the doctrine of the church and its application to everyday life. I have found that my involvement and service has made me happy and even resilient when the challenges of life arise. I believe that the help and encouragement that I have received through the years has made me a better and more useful person in many ways.

How I live my faith

I love being engaged in both the gospel and the church. I regularly have the opportunity to be in the homes of a few families to encourage them, this is called home teaching. It is a great opportunity to learn to know people. Until recently my wife and I had a couple of year opportunity to teach in Primary together. Initially, we taught four-year-olds. That was an adventure as we worked out how to work with the children to help them grasp basic concepts and share the instruction process. Through the years we have fulfilled many different roles and rendered a wide variety of service. As we have talked over the years we have noted how many important skills and abilities we have developed because of the opportunities we have been given that we through the church.
