Hi I'm Derick

I'm a gringo that likes Spanish. I'm an Eagle Scout. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I used to be a referee for youth sports in my city. It wasn't very fun getting yelled at all the time, so I'm glad to have that done with. School is definitely one of my biggest strengths. I went throughout all of high school receiving straight "A"s, with the exception of a single A-. I enjoy going to play sports like basketball or football with people from my neighborhood. I've studied Spanish for six years. I'm not Latino, I just really enjoy being able to speak in another language.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the LDS church. Both my parents are Mormon, and so are all my grandparents. I also live in a highly LDS population, so it's really easy for me to not feel like I'm the only Mormon around or any other such feelings. I'm really glad to be a Mormon because I feel included and accounted for when I go to chuch. I know that the LDS church is true and that God has a personal love for all of us.

How I live my faith

I have been called to serve as a missionary for the LDS church in Texas. Missionaries go around cities assigned to them by the leaders of the church to explain the doctrines of the church to nonmembers. I'll spend two years with many different companions going throughout towns knocking on doors in search of those willing to hear the lessons that describe this church.
