Hi I'm Claire Anderson

I've lived in Maine and Minnesota. I have a wonderful family of six. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love to write and to read. I also play soccer, and enjoy Saturday mornings when I can play at the church with my dad, my brother, and our LDS missionaries. My favorite food is cheesecake and my favorite time of the day is dusk. My dad is a psychologist and my mom is a mother. I plan on following in both of their footsteps, to become both a psychologist and a mom. I attend college, and plan on minoring in English. I think I have the coolest family in the world, and love to spend time with them.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, possesses the only full and restored gospel of Jesus Christ on this earth today. I came to know who God was through the testimony of my mom and dad. As a young girl, I was challenged to read the Book of Mormon and to pray and find out for myself whether it was true or not. I did, and I found out for myself through impressions I received from the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon is true, and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true, and good. Just this past year, I have tried to get to know my Savior better. I've read more about Him in the New Testament, and I am continually struck by His great love and selflessness towards His brothers and sisters. I believe that He is the ultimate example of who to become, and I know that as I hold fast to the principles I have been taught and the commandments of God, given through inspired prophets and leaders, I will grow to become more and more like my Savior. I solemnly testify that God calls modern-day prophets today, and that the prophet we have on this earth right now is President Thomas S. Monson. I know Heavenly Father has given us these prophets for our benefit, because He loves us. I know that this church and it's teachings are true because of the feelings I get from the Holy Ghost, confirming it's truthfulness in my mind and in my heart. I also know because of the way it inspires me to do good; to be better; to try harder. It inspires me to reach out to others and lift up those who are discouraged, downhearted, or dismayed. I testify that all can know of the Book of Mormon and the church's truthfulness by reading, pondering, and praying for themselves, as I did and continue to do. I testify that as you do this, you will find a peace and comfort that can come by no other means, and will partake of a joy which is full and eternal.

How I live my faith

I am a part of my church's women's group, which is focused on helping and serving others, and am called to be their pianist. I visit and teach a girl also a part of that group who I have come to love as a sister. I am close with the youth group leader for our young women in my church, and so I often go and serve the young women of our ward ages 12-18 as well. Just this last month, I helped serve as a camp leader at their girls camp, and we had tons of fun!

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Claire Anderson
There is so much I have yet to discover and understand about the Atonement of Jesus Christ. But I can testify now of the things I do understand, and have applied to my own life which have ultimately made it richer and happier. There are times when I have stumbled and made mistakes which have left me feeling horrible, flooded with guilt, alone, and even despairing. Sometimes it is easier to testify that Christ's Atonement applies to others than myself. But it is those hard times when I have chosen to accept Christ's outstretched hand, to acknowledge what I did and to make amends to the best of my ability, with the help of loving friends and with my Heavenly Father and Savior, that I have found great peace, comfort and happiness. If there is anything I could say about the Atonement it is this: that it does apply to you, that it is for your benefit, and that it has been given to you by a loving Savior who wants to see you succeed. The Atonement has helped me to understand that really, sin is the only tragedy of this mortal existence, and that even this may be overcome. Show more Show less
