Hi I'm Scott

I have grown up in Utah, and I have been a Mormon all my life. As of June 29th, I am serving a full time mission in virgina.

About Me

I am a of scholarly and geeky interests, and thus proficient in random church doctrine, comic book physics, literary devices, and chemical reactions. My father has a PHD in chemistry and my mother is a stay at home mom. I have grown up knowing the truth found in the LDS/Mormon religion, and despite the occasional doubt, has always found my questions to be sufficiently answered by the Lord with regards to His church. I also enjoy music and am proficient at piano and barely passable as a violist. I am currently serving a two year mission for my faith in Virgina, before returning to Utah to attend Brigham Young University, with the intent to major in forensic science.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because, deep down inside it is the only thing that makes sense to me. Any other philosophy or religion leaves me, in the end, confused and uncomfortable for some reason. The religion has something in it that I know is good and true. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by showing obedience to the words of prophets, past and current. I also try to serve God's church to the greatest capacity I can, which I am currently doing by serving a full time mission in Virginia.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

The Bible is the word of God, pure and simple, yet at times men misinterpret, have mistranslated, and don't fully comprehend what the Bible is teaching. However, the truth of all things can be found in it. As regarding the Book of Mormon, it is there to help make sense of seemingly contradicting statements in the bible and prove that God loves all of His children. Without the Bible I would be lost and confused. I believe that it is one of the most holy writings ever to grace the earth and that if a man reads it with a sincere search for the truth, common sense, and the Spirit's guidance man they will come to know of God, Christ, and their church.
