Hi I'm Tyler Pettit

I grew up in South Jordan Utah. I love to spend time outdoors. July 2016 I will begin my mission to Uruguay. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am very proud of the fact that I have worked double-time during my high school years, and I will receive my associates degree from SLCC concurrently this coming spring, at the same time I graduate from high school. This goal has taken a tremendous amount of additional time, hard work, and discipline to accomplish, and I consider this achievement to be a huge success in my life. When I begin college after my mission, I will be able to jump right into my major course curriculum work. I have also participated in the sports of lacrosse and distance track. I played lacrosse from 6th-11th grade, and I recently switched to running distance track during the spring of my junior year. During my junior year, I was also called to participate in Special Needs Mutual each week, where I was assigned as a “Friend” to a man named Lynn who had disabilities. In addition, I earned my Eagle Scout award just after I turned 13 years old. And lastly, I have worked at South Jordan Elementary for the past two years to earn extra money.

Why I am a Mormon

I had the privilege of being born to parents who were already members of the church. It has been a blessing in my life to always have the gospel in my life. But while I was born in the church, I still had to learn for myself, “Why am I a Mormon?” I have been seeking the answer to this question throughout my life, and the answer that always seems to come back is that I am happier when I’m living the commandments to the best of my ability and relying on the healing power of the atonement of Christ to make up for all my shortcomings. This was something that I learned early on in my teenage years, and this is the way I choose to live because I love the happiness it brings to my life. This is why I’m a Mormon.

How I live my faith

In my life, I try my best to live the way that my Heavenly Father wants me to on a daily basis. I’m not perfect, but I do my best to live the commandments and set an example to others around me. I don’t swear. I don’t drink coffee. I’m honest, and hope that others will be the same. These are just some of the ways that I try to live what I believe. I also spend a lot of my time serving and helping others. I am leaving on a two-year mission to Uruguay to teach others about the gospel of Jesus Christ, and how it can bring happiness into their lives. I live with these things in mind because I know that the only thing that matters is showing our Heavenly Father that we are willing to do the things that he wants rather than what I feel is best
