Hi I'm Robert Cronk

I grew up in Utah, lived in Arizona and California, I am a software engineer and manager. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of five girls. I have been a software engineer for the past 24 years and have recently been a manager of software engineers. I like to play volleyball and do karate.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised by Mormon parents and eventually became an atheist between the ages of 16 and 22. At age 22, I had an experience that helped me to learn that my parents loved me even though they didn't like the things I had been doing in my life. At the same time, I learned that God loved me too. I visited many churches and then decided to read and pray sincerely about the Book of Mormon. I ended up going on a mission for the Mormon church to Chile.

How I live my faith

In my church, I teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to 10-year-olds. I think I learn more than they do.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Robert Cronk
To me, John 3:16, combined with my experience as a father, explains why Christ had to sacrifice His life. The second highest sacrifice for someone that I love is to sacrifice my own life for them. The highest sacrifice would be to sacrifice my child - not a sacrifice I could ever make. Any parent would give their life to save their child and so God, in order to prove His infinite love for us, sacrificed the most valuable thing to Him - his Son Jesus Christ. I need to learn to love God, myself, and others the best I can and I've been given the ultimate example of that through God's love and Christ's sacrifice for me. That example get's me started on the path to being able to love and have some level of confidence that I'm worth being loved. If God is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for me because He loves me, then maybe I'm worth that love. I believe that finding out why I'm worth that love is a big part of why I'm here on Earth and being allowed to be in the position of a father here on Earth is a big part of being able to understand that love too. Jesus Christ is my Savior and His sacrifice (His Atonement) helps me push through the doubts and fears of Satan that I'm not worth it. Jesus Christ and His sacrifice are the only way I have found to get faith in my own worth that is truly eternal. I have been and am being saved by His love and mercy every day. Show more Show less
