Hi I'm Matt Thompson

I grew up in Michigan. I graduated from college and worked for an insurance company 37 years before retiring and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband, father, grandfather and love my family and church. I played a lot of sports growing up including playing small college football and love to workout. I am a convert having only gone to a Methodist church until I was 4 years old, but at that young age something happened and after it I always knew there was a God. We never prayed or read any scriptures as a family. My grandmother would send us a verse of scripture underlined in red pencil and I read them and felt good. The only prayers I ever heard were at my grandfather and grandmothers house for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. My wife is the best thing that ever happened in my life and was an answer to my first verbal prayer of my life at the age of 25. She has always been a Mormon. Once I knew God had answered my prayer to find a wife and felt the pure love of Christ when I first touched her hand I knew her church was true. I had prayed directly to God and I knew he answered my prayer and knew He knew I knew it. Shortly thereafter I told her that I knew her church was true.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of my first prayer that God answer for me and the many prayers, scripture study, and attending the temple ever since. I am a Mormon because of my faith in Jesus Christ the Son of the living God and His atonement and that He lives today. This is His church restored to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith and led today by the prophet Thomas S. Monson. That the Book of Mormon is the Word of God and is true. I am a Mormon because I know that families can be together forever through the ordinances administered in the temple.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving others, praying & reading my scriptures daily, and attending the temple which gives me a sense of peace and purpose in my life. I know God is always watching over my family and me. I have had the opportunity of serving in the church in many capacities.
