Hi I'm Rian Bree

I grew up in a single parent family. I am a musician, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a single parent household with my mother and brother. My mother is an amazing woman for whom I have much adoration and respect. It was important to her in our early years that church and the Gospel was a regular part of our family life. However, before I began middle school our family became inactive and after a few years passed I had lost all interest in faith. Without any desire to entertain religious sentiments, nor associate with any religious groups I did not see myself as someone who was or ever would be religious. HA! Boy was I wrong! ;) It took time for me to overcome fears of inadequacy and to be humbled enough to finally begin asking meaningful questions like: Who is God? Is he real? Can all this Book of Mormon, Bible, prophet, stuff be true? Who am I? Who can I become? and How can God love me? Through the kindness, patience, and kind encouragement of those around me I found the answers to my questions. The thing about the Gospel is that everything-- every doctrine and principle and event, everything always comes back to love. For me, a musician, music also centers around love. I am currently enrolled in college as a music education major. It is my desire to share and spread love and music in the world. I seldom feel closer to God than I do when using the gifts he has given me for good. He is there. He listens.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? I am a Mormon because I have a testimony that I am loved by God, the Father, and that Jesus is the Christ! Heavenly Father is a real person. I have a personal relationship with him. He listens to me and knows what I need. I have read the Book of Mormon and testify without hesitation or guile that it is the word of God. I am a daughter of God who is trying to be like my brother, Jesus Christ. I am not perfect. I am so, so far from perfect, but the Atonement of Jesus Christ does not require perfection. What we are required to do is earnestly try. Love is powerful. Love conquers all. Love is at the center of my belief in the gospel and is the connector of each and every piece and part of my testimony. The Gospel makes sense! Everything works and fits together. Joyfully, I declare that if you are looking for happiness, if you are looking for light, truth, and love with a genuine heart you will find it here.

How I live my faith

I have fulfilled a number of assignments as a teacher to a range of age groups and the only thing that amazes me even more than what I learn by teaching is how much love the Lord has for each of us. As someone who is not yet a parent, it is in these teaching assignments that I have come to have a deep, and reverent love for my students and for the children of God at large. I have been blessed to see miracles and to help and clarify points of doctrine which once may have been unclear or incomplete. We learn by asking questions and should never follow blindly! So ask questions! Ask all the questions you can think of, and genuinely search for and be willing to act upon the answers! You will receive what you are looking for, just as I did.
