Hi I'm Jose Velazquez

I hoped they called me on a mission. They called me on a mission. I will soon be on my mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the son of Juan and Juanita Velazquez. I have 2 older brothers (Angel and Luis), and a younger brother (Pablo). I have been in band at my schools since 6th grade. I play percussion, so I like playing things loudly, but I love gentle sounds as well. My favorite instrument is the Marimba because it is very soothing, and is not just loud thumps on a drum (sometimes that gets old). I played football and ran track in junior high, and played soccer in high school. I joined a collegiate program to graduate with my high school diploma and and associates degree at the same time. I am playing rugby right now, and although it hurts a lot, it is my most favorite sport to play out of the ones I have. I am currently working to save money to pay for my mission. I was called to the Idaho, Twin Falls Mission, and I cannot wait to go serve the people there.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon, and I would say that is one reason. Throughout my teenage years, I started questioning the church, and how it runs, because I think that is what everyone goes through whether you are a convert or you were born in this church. I know that it was alright for me to have doubts because that just meant that I was trying to strengthen my testimony in the church. I studied in the scriptures to find answers to my questions, I attended seminary no matter how early in the morning it was, I was listening more profoundly to the lessons in my Sunday School, and Priesthood classes, and I was able to find my answers. Instead of just agreeing with what my mom and dad would say, I now know for myself that this church is true, and the joy that it brings to me cannot be found anywhere else. This church that Jesus Christ leads is wonderful, and the gospel helps to understand the big picture of this life, and I love and cherish that so much. There are many reasons as to why I am a Mormon, but these are just some of the reasons.

How I live my faith

I have been with the LDS Church my whole life, and it has blessed me so much. I have had the chance to lead different groups of kids my age, and also learn help out my leaders as well whether I am their assistant or not. The LDS Church is connected with Boy Scouts of America, and I have also been a member of that as well through the LDS Church. I have received my Eagle Scout Award in scouting. There are many service opportunities that my ward hold, and I try to participate in every single one of them. I have a temporary Temple recommend, and I try to go to the Temple constantly to feel the peace, and love my Heavenly Father has for me, and do some Temple work as well.
