Hi I'm McKenna

I grew up in Utah. I love nature, animals, and music. I hike and run half marathons. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi there! I just finished high school last year, and I am going to college for my generals. I am headed on a mission in the fall, and I am so excited. In my spare time I like to read books, binge watch Netflix series, and go on hikes. If I could eat sushi everyday for the rest of my life, I think I would be content. I can be really shy around people I don't know, but I'm a total goofball around my family and friends. I love the gospel, and I love my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

Like many people in Utah, I was born into the LDS church so I never knew anything different. With that said, I struggled to find myself and know what was true for a long time. I had friends of other faiths, and those who didn't affiliate with any religion, so I began to gain more perspective. The most profound thing I have recognized is the feeling I get when I attend church, pray, and read the scriptures. I attended a Catholic mass in support of a family member, and remembered feeling an absence or void. At that moment, I recognized what the Spirit of God felt like, and what it felt like to be without it. I am a Mormon because I believe in Christ and I believe with my whole heart that this is the true church. When I read the Book of Mormon I feel comforted and I feel in my heart and soul that it is right. I believe that Joseph Smith was and is a true prophet, as well as Thomas S. Monson, our prophet today. I have seen countless miracles and blessings in my life, that have testified to me that Heavenly Father and Jesus are watching over me. I have also had incredibly difficult trials and burdens that made me ask "Is Heavenly Father really there?", but through the power of prayer and faith, I was able to understand that I needed to endure those things to progress in my life. I know that I would have nothing in this life if it weren't for my Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. Because of Him, I know true happiness and joy. Because of Him, I know that I can be married to my spouse for eternity in His holy temple. Because of Him, I know I will see my ancestors again. Because of Him, I can repent and be made clean again. He atoned for my sins, bleeding from every pore. He performed miracles, healing the sick and raising the dead. He was persecuted and nailed on the cross, saying "Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do"(Luke 23:34). On the third day, He rose from the tomb, a fully resurrected being. He lives and I will forever choose to follow Him.

How I live my faith

In church, I've had a few different callings that helped me to learn how to be a leader and friend to other people around me, especially other girls my age. My current calling allows me to reach out to other youth and single adults around my age and let them know about events they can get involved in to meet new people, and potentially meet their eternal spouses.
