Hi I'm Mirella

I am Brazilian and Canadian. I love living, learning, and appreciating the simple beauties and joys of each day. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Brazil and grew up there until I was 14, after which I moved to Canada with my family. I studied Psychology and Education in university, and I love working with children and being able to use my creativity to learn, teach, contribute to my community and serve others! I have a passion for almost all things artistic - dancing, drawing, painting, writing, photography - and I love making time to pursue those activities because they enrich my life and bring me joy. I love hiking and being in nature, and I always feel such a peace when I am surrounded by God's beautiful creations. I like to look at life as a big adventure and opportunity to grow and learn, and I believe that each day is a precious gift with new possibilities, and we can always make the best of it.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. I was raised in the church, and since I was a little girl I remember feeling the Spirit when I listened in church, read the scriptures or sang a church hymn. Throughout the years and challenges that I have experienced in life, I have had the opportunity to seek and rely on my Saviour and His strength more deeply, when I have been confused, lost, hurt, sad, weak and discouraged. No matter what circumstance I was facing, and even if the hardships did not go away, I have always been able to find peace, strength, hope and joy in and through Him. Jesus is my hero, my teacher, my guide, and my best friend, and I love Him so much. I know that we are all God's children, and He loves us more than we can comprehend, and knows and wants what is best for us. We have infinite potential. I know that as we follow Him, we can be our happiest and best selves, and we will be able to do the most good in this world. We need to trust Him. I love the scriptures so much, and I know that they are the word of God brought to us through much sacrifice, for our guidance and benefit. I know that the Book of Mormon is true, and I love it so much! There is such a sweet and powerful Spirit that flows into my life when I read and study it. I feel lighter and happier, and have a greater desire to do good and love those around me. It brings understanding and clarity into my life, and helps me to feel closer to God. I know that God has prophets and apostles who lead and guide us today, and I love listening to and striving to follow their counsel because it makes me a better and happier person. Life is full of challenges and things that are confusing and hard, but I know that for all of those things, the gospel of Jesus Christ is the answer. Out of all the things that bring me joy, this gospel is my favourite because it is the one and only source of true and everlasting joy. I have come to find this for myself, and I know that it is absolutely true.

How I live my faith

I am part of the Young Single Adult ward in my stake, and I have a calling working with the women in my age group (18-30 years old), which gives me the opportunity to connect with them and help to assist their needs, as well as helping them to connect with and support each other through the visiting teaching program. I, along with the other women who work in this capacity with me, strive to hold weekly meetings where we discuss the needs of the women in our ward and plan activities and ways in which we can help them. I love the friendships, support and learning that we can gain as we associate with each other through the church. I also love all of the fun activities and experiences that I have through participating and contributing by serving others in and outside of the church.
