Hi I'm Ashlee McDonald

Howdy y'all! I was born and raised in Texas. I am currently attending the Colleyville YSA. I'm a convert, baptized May 14, 2016 :)

About Me

I'm 17 years old on the verge of 18. My birthday is July 22. I graduated from Azle High School and am planning on attending Weatherford College to receive my basics. I then plan on serving a mission. Look out for me, the Lord made me for missionary work! When I get home from my mission I would like to attend the University of the Arts in Pennsylvania and major in Directing/Theatre Production and minor in business.(Fun Fact: Jared Leto went to college there!!) While that's going on I plan on acting and going on as many adventures as I possibly can. My goal is to own my own dinner theater and direct the shows that are shown there.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a Non Denominational Christian. When I was eight years old my parents stopped going to church, but I still wanted to go. Luckily, I have been blessed with supportive parents. Then when I got into high school my faith was seriously strained. I went through a lot those years: problems with parents and peers, depression, and anxiety. For a long time I felt like there was no way I could ever go back to living in the light, because I was so unworthy. The adversary was working hard against me so that I could not see that light shone through the cracks of my broken heart. Then I was blessed with a wonderful best friend who had converted to the church in December. She invited me to one of her lessons with the sister missionaries. I fell in love with the sisters and their spirit. They gave me a Book of Mormon, and I did not read it for several weeks. A part of me was afraid cause I knew once I read this book my life was going to change forever.... and I was right. After many weeks of praying and studying the Bible I finally knew that I needed to read the Book of Mormon. I read the testimony of Joseph Smith and was overwhelmed with the truth of the Spirit. I started taking lessons and that week was General Conference. The sisters had asked me to write down questions before we watched conference, and so I did. Let me just say that every single question was answered that day. One of my questions was: Should I get baptized to the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints? And three different people said, "Though your sins be red as blood through Jesus Christ they will be made white as snow." And then I knew I had to get baptized. I was on May 14 and confirmed on May 15 (which happens to be the day the priesthood was restored). I have never been happier. The church is true, Joseph Smith restored the gospel, and there are prophets today. I say all these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

Until I am old enough to go on my mission I am being a missionary to all of my friends, co workers, and family. I am surrounded by so many people are not Mormon. Let me tell you these people are also shocked at my conversion. Which turned out to be a blessing in disguise because so many people ask me about the church and why I converted to it. I have yet to receive any sort of callings within the church, but I've only been an official member for one month so we shall see. I have had a total of three blessings and every single one have told me that I am to be a missionary and that my story will not only strengthen member testimonies, but will help guide non members to the truth of the church.
