Hi I'm Kelsey

I've grown up across the United States and Western Europe. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

When I was a 11 my family moved from central Ohio to the French speaking region of Belgium in western Europe. The next four years was an amazing adventure that planted the "travel" seed deep in my heart. I fell in love with the sights, sounds, smells and tastes of the cities, history, culture and festivals. Now 15 years later I still find the world around me to be an amazing adventure. I have two nephews and a niece. The only thing I enjoy more than discovering the beauty of the earth is to watch others (especially children) discover that beauty for the first time. I studied math and physics in college and work as a technical writer.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were contacted by Mormon missionaries while they were young adults. They both joined the church before they met each other. I'm grateful for their example and the love the have for the Savior. In Matthew chapter 7 verse 20 Jesus Christ counsels us, "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them." The goodness and love that I've seen in my parents has taught me more than all the things they've ever said. I've been given a foundation for my faith but the testimony I have is mine, not my parents'. As I read and reread the Book of Mormon something burns in my heart and I know it's true. In the Book of Mormon, in 3 Nephi chapters 8-10 (pages 422-427) a prophet who lived on the American continent describes what happened to their civilization the day that Jesus Christ died on the cross. There were earthquakes and volcanoes and major storms. Whole cities were wiped away and thousands upon thousands of people were killed. At the time there were many wicked people and murder was practiced openly. When Christ died they were covered in darkness for three days. And then they hear a voice from heaven. It is the voice of the Lord. And then in Chapter 11 (page 428) Jesus Christ descends from heaven and teaches them and heals them. I am a Mormon because I know that Jesus Christ LIVES and LOVES all of us. Everything the Book of Mormon teaches and everything the Church does is because He Lives. It's good. It's very good.

How I live my faith

In Acts chapter 10 verse 38 it describes the work of Jesus Christ by simply saying that He "went about doing good..." I live my faith in Jesus Christ by remembering this example. In a world that's growing ever more chaotic the opportunities to be kind and to serve God's children are everywhere. I've found that if I ask Heavenly Father to lead me to someone I can help - He always will. In the church we're given assignments. Currently I work with teenage girls. I teach and help plan activities. I also go out and visit people in need. Sometimes that included bringing groceries to families who have had a temporary setback. Sometimes it's caring for someone who is sick. But most of the time it's just being a friend and listening.
