Hi I'm Zac Jones

I'm an 19 year old kid from the Midwest. I sing, and also play the piano, organ, and saxophone. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've grown up in the church my whole life. My mother was a convert when she was about my age. I have three younger siblings. In high school, I was heavily involved in band and choir, and I really love jazz band and jazz choir. I love to play golf. I will be serving a mission in Helsinki, Finland, and afterward I plan to major in chemical engineering at BYU! I am excited to serve the Lord and I'm grateful for the strength and peace He provides me every day.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I feel it. We truly have a "completeness" of doctrine that seems to give life meaning and a purpose. For me, I love that focus is (like other Christian faiths) on our Savior and his sacrifice for us, but we uniquely focus on our ability to change and improve ourselves to work to become more like Him. Being a member of the church has instilled solid core values in me that help me to be a better person, a better person that can have a positive impact in the world. The church is a constant platform that is something I can stick to in both good times in bad. Although I was born into the church, I too have gained my own personal witness that it is true. I know that my Savior cares about me and loves me, and is also intimately concerned about the events in my life. I have felt of his strength and of his peace that allows me to continue moving forward. I know that God directs his church today through a modern day prophet and that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know that God loves all of his children and provides us guidance so that we can better and more fully follow him. What truly is beautiful about my faith is how real it has become in my life.

How I live my faith

I love being involved with my church and my community. In high school, I loved being a part of our service-based organizations like Key Club and NHS. In church, I've served as the organist since I was 13. I definitely struggled at first, but I know that I've had the Lord's help as I've worked to improve. Currently, I also teach the 10 and 11 year old Primary class, which has truly been a humbling experience. I'm grateful that a loving God has provided me opportunities to grow and expand my talents and skills. I live in an area with few members so I know that being a good example and role model is really important. I've learned that being positive, giving a smile, and helping others is the best way to not only make friends, but also to share the love of Jesus Christ. I am so excited to be able to serve the people of Finland on my mission!
