Hi I'm Holly

Although I was born in Utah, and currently live in Utah, I have lived most of my life in Colorado. I'm a mormon.

About Me

Basically, I am a pretty ordinary person. I am married and very thrilled to be a Grandmother of 21 grandchildren. My husband and I have made a tradition of taking each of our grandchildren to Disneyland when they turn 5, and that has been very fun and memorable! I love spending time with our daughters and their families. I love the outdoors and the beauty of nature. I love to play the piano, garden and am very interested in art and painting with either watercolor or oil paint. (I can't seem to choose a favorite) We have had experience with different disabilities in our family as we have different members in our family with disabilities which are significant. While these situations have been very trying, we also have found that they have made us more empathetic and less judgmental.

Why I am a Mormon

Although, I grew up going to the Mormon church, my father was a Presbyterian and my mother a Mormon. I wasn't an "automatic" Mormon. Through high school and college I tried different Christian churches as I thought I would fit in better at them. At one point in my life I realized that after looking at other churches what I really hoped and really wanted was for the Mormon church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to be true! I prayed that I would know that the teachings of the Church were true. I accepted an opportunity to serve in my local congregation or ward, and I committed to live the commandments to the best of my ability. It didn't take long for me to truly know that the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints were true. I had no doubt, and then I prayed that I would always be able to keep my testimony of this truth, and that my testimony would grow. I can see that my life has a beauty a peace, and a stability to it that I could not have found any other place. I am grateful that my children have learned of this truth and have chosen to incorporate it in their lives. I love this gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

As my children were growing up I spent a significant amount of time volunteering at their school and at church. These were both important to me. I have worked with the youth in our church frequently over the years and have gone to girls camp with them, taught them on Sundays as well as an early morning religious curriculum before school. I love the energy, enthusiasm of teenagers and my respect and love for the youth is great. Currently, my husband and I are preparing for a full time mission which will last 23 months and we will begin that the end of summer 2016. We are excited to do this and has been a dream of ours for many years! Through the years I have had many opportunities to serve others and receive service from others! These experiences have been very instrumental in my life and have been a big part of making me, ME. They have taught me perseverance, patience, love for others that are different from me, and humility. These service opportunities have also helped me develop strengths and talents such as teaching.
