Hi I'm David

I am a retired Horticulturalist. I grew up in Utah and now live in Arizona. I love the gospel, serving others and gardening.

About Me

I am a retired Parks Supervisor from the City of Phoenix. I was the Grounds Supervisor at Utah State University & Weber College. I have worked in Ornamental Horticulture & Landscape Construction all my life. I've been a Supervisor for 28 yrs. I retired at 51. I 've been involved with Scouting for 30 yrs. I enjoy gardening, fishing, hiking, camping, hunting, wood working, helping others, attending the temple, spending time with our 11 grand kids and spending time with my wife. My wife & I have just been call on a LDS mission in Nashville Tennessee for 18 months. We are excited to serve the Lord and look forward to serving where every we can.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a strong belief in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I know that God lives and he know who I am. I know that he watches over us and blesses us each day. I have a testimony that Jesus Christ lived and died for us so that we would be able to repent of our sins and return to our Heavenly Father. I have had the Holy Ghost testify to me that the teachings, principles and standards of the church are true. I have many experiences where the Holly Ghost has prompted me and guided me in day to day activities helping me make good decisions and has warned me of danger. He has blessed me with knowledge and understanding. He has blessed with comfort and piece of mind during times of grief and sorrow. I have a testimony that when we pay tithing and offerings that the blessings from heaven open up in may different ways from being able to fix things myself, with job opportunities, checks coming in the mail un-expectedly and blessings of health and strength. I know the that Joseph Smith was a truth prophet of God and did restore the fullness of the gospel in the dispensation of time. My family has been blessed and restored to health many time through the Priesthood authority. The gospel has brought love, piece and harmony to our family and into our home. I would never want to be without the gospel in my life and if we put our lives in our Heavenly Father's hands and trust in him, he will make more of lives than we possible can do on our own. I testify to you that God lives and the gospel is true and I say this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

My wife and I have been severing as Webelos Cub Scout leaders for the passed 8 years working with the 10 year olds. We have been working with the Grand Canyon Council District assisting in the Webelos Round Tables on a monthly basis providing other leaders with ideas on how to make their programs work better. I teach a class for some 250 - 300 Webelos each year at our Webeloree (Spring Camporee). I am involved with the annual Scout food drive collecting food for the local United Food Bank. I volunteer at the LDS cannery to help out with humanitarian projects providing food for those in need. I have been active in our neighborhood helping some of our neighbors with their yard work or where ever then may need help. Where ever possible I share some of my beliefs and I always try to set a good example by living up to what I believe in. I attend church regularly; pray always; work on our family history, and spend time with my family teaching them gospel principals; share stories about our family, help with service projects in our community and I having fun our family. Over the years we have shared our family with others who don't have children or those who families are not around and may be lonely. With my gardening experience I have helped others start their own gardens, planting seeds, share plants and vegetables from my garden. I have praise our Heavenly Father constantly for all the blessing he has given me and for my very existence.
