Hi I'm Jim

I grew up in Arizona and am a convert to the Church. I am a Mormon and very active in the Church.

About Me

I am a father, a grandfather and a great grandfather. Born in Pocatello, Idaho, raised in Phoenix, Arizona by father. Mother died just before I turned 3. Served 4 years in US Navy. Joined Church when I was 28. Graduated from Arizona Western College. Married twice, divorced once. Been married to present wife for 33 years. Worked for electric, company for 34 years, retired and went back to work for them as a contractor or another 8 years. Was not raised in church as mother was member, father was not. After her death, was sent to live with Paternal grandparents who were not members. Attended a few different churches but did join any. Attended maternal grandmothers funeral when I was 28, developed an interest and joined. Did not stay active. After divorce from 1st wife, had thought one day that I needed to meet a good LDS lady, get myself straightened out and get back in the Church. About 2 weeks later, I met my present wife. We were married a few months later and I have been active since then.

Why I am a Mormon

When I attended my grandmothers funeral, I spent some time with an Uncle who was extremely active and asked a lot of questions which he answered. This sparked an interest and I was sure this was what I was looking for. The more I am associated with the Church, the more sure I am it is true and it is where I want to be. I think I was looking for something most of my life and now I know this is what I was looking for. Being a Mormon is not just a belief in something or a belief in God. It is not just attending Church each week, it is a way of life and a way of life that I want to live.

How I live my faith

I am active in my Ward. Have served many different callings. I read the scriptures. I attend my meetings. I attend the Temple. I pray daily. I try to be an example to those around me, especially my children and grandchildren.
