Hi I'm Austin Morgan

I grew up in Tulsa, OK. I love Dr. Pepper. Best season is football season. I'm serving a 2 year mission in Ventura, California.

About Me

I was born in Dallas, Texas and lived there until I was five. After that, I lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma until graduating from Thomas. A Edison High School in 2014. I was a single child until my family adopted a Cherokee boy that has quite the survival story for his early years of life. I began college at University of Oklahoma to pursue a degree in Health Exercise Science (#boomersooner) and aspire to be a health professional. After my freshman year I transferred to Brigham Young University to continue my undergraduate degree. Top two personal recreational activities are soccer and snowboarding. In July 2016 I will serve a full time LDS mission in Ventura, California area for 2 years.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the constant joy and peace I feel as being a follower of Christ. In a world whose standards for happiness are continually changing, I feel stability for everyday life by following the commandments of God. Having grown up in the LDS faith since birth, I have followed the recommended guidelines for the vast majority of that time. There was a couple of years were I deviated from the lifestyle of a disciple of Christ. Throughout that time, I felt a lack of long term drive and belonging. Although I was following the standards of happiness from the world, I did not feel truly happy. I began to re-adhere to the commandments of God, and rather than feeling insufficient because of my prior mistakes, I felt quite the opposite. I began to feel the love of God stronger than ever before. I found the belonging and drive that was missing in my life over the few years of deviation. I am a Mormon because I feel a part of something larger than myself. I am a Mormon because I can see the influence of God in all members of faith. I am a Mormon because on a daily basis I feel the love of God and know that my life will work out in the manner that God sees best for me.

How I live my faith

As mentioned, I currently attend Brigham Young University which is a central hub of young adult LDS faith. There are campus wide assemblies called devotionals held once a week. At these devotionals a variety of inspirational messages of many topics are shared by university professors, business professionals, and political leaders. I love to attend weekly to hear messages of hope, faith, and of God's love for everyone on Earth and relate concepts to my university education. In addition, I am a fan of community service work. Most recently I volunteered to be a coach for a 4th to 5th grade boys soccer team. During the season we had weekly practices and games to encourage the recreational pursuit of soccer as well as developing individual skill. In my congregation at church, I help plan several service and recreational events for members to come with their friends and family and all they wish to invite. The most important way I live my faith is the little actions throughout each day. By living my religion on a hour by hour base rather living between each big event, I feel the love of God not only for me but for all in larger quantities and more often.
