Hi I'm Eli

My favorite hobbies are studying languages, reading a good book and learning to play the piano. I love getting to know new people.

About Me

I am the second oldest out of six siblings. I love canoeing, backpacking, camping and hiking. I like learning about people; their job, their beliefs, their interests. I want to be a linguist, and help people communicate. It gives me an opportunity to get to know more people. I like to learn languages, and want to learn as many as I can in my life (my goal is to learn seven; I am working on my third).

Why I am a Mormon

I love the Gospel. It brings me so much happiness. There is so much truth to be found in it. I testify of it's truth, that families can be together forever, that God loves us, that we can live with God again. All things in the Book of Mormon are true. All things in the Holy Bible are true. They testify of Jesus Christ, and that through His Atonement we can repent and be baptized. We can return and live with God again.

How I live my faith

I stand as an example to others by living the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I strive to improve myself each day so as to become more happy.

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

The nickname "Mormons" was given to us because we believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God, just like the Bible. The people who gave it to us did not understand that we believe in both the Bible and the Book of Mormon. They thought that we only believed the Book of Mormon to be true and not the Bible. But "We believe the Bible to be the word of God, as far as it is translated correctly. We also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God" (8th Article of Faith). Show more Show less
