Hi I'm Christopher Otero II

I was born and raised in the Bible Belt of Texas. I'm an Eagle Scout. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the bible belt of Texas born as a first child. As I went through the early years of school, I got a brother and two sisters. I grew up with many kids knowing and loving Jesus but there were not a whole lot of other Mormons in my school, only me and a few others. Throughout my entire high school career I played the saxophone in the band and made several good friends who I would frequently talk about my faith with. At first, thought it was a pretty strange religion but as I went more in depth the more they realized that it was pretty similar to their beliefs. By the last semester of high school I received my mission call to serve in the Perth Australia mission. I get to Australia on August 3rd 2016.

Why I am a Mormon

Even growing up in the church like I did is not the easiest thing. There are many things that are expected of you; especially if you have held and are currently in a leadership position. I have always believed in God. There has never really been a time in my life where I have not believed in Him. however, i had to find out on my own whether the truths in our church are the correct ones. Through multiple weeks and lots of time on my knees humbly before my Lord, I prayed and asked if the Book of Mormon is true. At this point in my life I had already read the Book of Mormon for my self. I knew that if the Book of Mormon was true then Joseph Smith was indeed a prophet of God and he really did translate the Book of Mormon. That means that God the Father and His son Jesus Christ did appear to him in that grove of trees. And it means that this really is His true church on the earth today. I prayed about the Book of Mormon and I received an answer. Not a great and powerful answer but a small peaceful answer that let me know that all is well and I am where I need to be.

How I live my faith

While growing up as a teenager, I was always called upon to serve in a leadership positions among the young men and I always served to the best of my ability. I continually prayed over those who I was to be leading, wishing to know how to best help and serve those under my care. Even on youth trips I was called on to be a leader; such as a trip to Nauvoo during the summer of 2016.
