Hi I'm Gary

I'm a father and grandfather. I'm a builder and electrician. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the father of 4 and grandfather of 14. I have been married for 41 years. I have built many homes and completely remodeled our own home. I owned and ran an electrical contracting business for 35 years. I love to fish and own a small fishing boat. I enjoy wood working and read novels for relaxation.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but when I went to France as a missionary my testimony grew and I could say I know that this church is the Lord's church. I feel so blessed to know that: the Book of Mormon is the word of God, Thomas S Monson is truly a prophet of God, Jesus Christ atoned for my sins and made resurrection and forgiveness possible for all, Heavenly Father knows me individually and answers my prayers, through the scriptures I can grow closer to my Savior and learn to live as He did, I will see my loved ones again after I die through the blessing of the ordinances of the temple. The Church and my family bring me joy more than any worldly thing can!

How I live my faith

I have spent many years working in scouting and church youth programs. I have also served in many leadership positions in the Church. I love to teach classes. I am honored to have the priesthood, which is the authority to act in God's name. I have been able to help many people because I have that authority. I served as a missionary in Paris France when I was young. That experience served as a great foundation for the rest of my life. I have always found great joy in helping others and have had many opportunities for service through the Church organizations. My wife and I served in the temple for seven years and we recently completed a mission to Ghana to serve in the temple there. We are leaving in a month to help the people of Senegal for eighteen months.

Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Yes we do! The Bible is the common ground for all Christians. The examples of Adam, Abraham and other prophets and the prophecies of Isaiah and Jeremiah and others provide examples for our lives. The New Testament shows us powerfully how the Savior lived and how His teachings affected His apostles and the people of that time. The Bible is the word of God and was written by good men who were prompted by the Holy Spirit to write things that would help us. In the same way we also have additional scriptures, including the Book of Mormon which is another testament of Jesus Christ, for which I am grateful. Show more Show less
