Hi I'm Steven

I grew up in Utah. I love hiking, camping, and fishing. I work for a landscaping company. I like running. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

In high school, I enjoyed learning about science and math. I think I would like to go to school to be a doctor, or maybe an engineer. Right now, I am currently preparing to serve a 2 year mission. I have been called to serve in Sao Paulo, Brazil. I am excited to serve the Lord as a missionary. Right now, I am currently working for a landscaping company. We mainly do sprinkler work for people. It is hard work, but it is also rewarding. I like to accomplish hard things. I enjoy doing many kinds of things outdoors. I love hiking, and have hiked in the Tetons, the Uintahs, Zion National Park, Arches National Park, and other places. The longest hike I have been on is what is called the 50/20 where you hike 50 miles in 20 hours or less. I have done this hike three times. I also enjoy running. I recently ran a marathon, and got a time of 3 hrs, 13 min, and 55 sec. I had fun, and want to do another marathon someday.

Why I am a Mormon

There are many reasons why I continue to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and why I strive to live the gospel of Jesus Christ. The main one is my testimony. I have a testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have gained this testimony through fasting, prayer, and the study of the holy scriptures, especially the Book of Mormon. I have a testimony that this book is true, and that Joseph Smith is a true prophet of God who was instrumental in restoring Christ's church again upon the earth. I know that I have a loving Heavenly Father, and that His Son, Jesus Christ, suffered and died for me, and was then resurrected three days later. Because of Christ's sacrifice and resurrection, I can be forgiven when I make mistakes, and I will be able to see my loved ones again after this life. One may ask how I know these things to be true. I know them by the Holy Ghost, which touches my heart as I learn about the gospel, and as I strive to live what I learn. To me, my testimony is very special. It is something that I hold dear. It can't be taken away from me. It is what keeps me going.

How I live my faith

I am a home teacher. I have a companion and the two of us both go and teach a gospel lesson to two families in our neighborhood each month. One of the families has 11 kids, and the other family has 5. I try to look for ways that I can serve these families, and build friendships with them as well. I love them. It is the responsibility of my companion and myself to make sure we know what these families are in need of, and and to help them with this. This may require us requesting the help of others, but it is our responsibility to see that our families have what they stand in need of. Being a home teacher is something that I take seriously, and I am grateful for this responsibility that I have to love, care for, and teach some of God's children.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

We believe that God is our loving Father in Heaven. He is the Father of our spirits. He is all-powerful, and He is perfect. He knows each of us by name, and he wants to be happy. Show more Show less
