Hi I'm Aileen

I grew up in South Dakota and am currently a Missionary. I will soon be leaving the MTC for Bolivia! And I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am a musician, life would not be nearly so beautiful without music! I've been playing viola since the age of five, piano since nine and singing since thirteen. Although I love them all, viola is my passion and I thoroughly enjoyed competing and teaching children how to play. Another passion I have is riding horses. I have a horse named Artaban and I train him in Jumping and Dressage. He's the cutest thing I have ever seen. I am absolutely in love with traveling and have taken every opportunity I have been blessed with to save up my money and just GO. I've visited Canada (although my dad's Canadian so that hardly counts), New Zealand, Germany (and a few surrounding countries), England, Ireland and soon I'll be in Bolivia and Peru. I am currently attending BYU Provo after transferring from Utah State last year. I love them both equally in case you're wondering! My major is in anthropology and pre-med and I hope to one day be a dermatologist.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have searched the scriptures, pondered its teachings, prayed and been given a confirmation from God that THIS IS the true church. I have felt the promptings and comfort of the Holy Ghost countless times and can no more deny God's existence than I can my own. I also cannot deny that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God and that he restored this church to the earth in the order that God commanded. I have prayed many times to know that Joseph truly was a prophet, just like the prophets of the Bible and I have felt the Spirit testify strongly that he was. I am a Mormon because as I follow the commandments, live righteously, strive to align my life with the teachings of the Book of Mormon, and participate in my Church, I am the most happy. As I live my life the way God would have me live it, I can feel his peace and even in the darkest times of my life, I know that ultimately, true happiness only comes through Him. My 21 year old brother passed away last October and I cannot even begin to describe the devastation my family and I have felt since he crossed the veil. But because of my faith in God and my faith in life after death, I KNOW that I will see my brother again. It is incredibly hard right now, but I am comforted by the knowledge I have gained from the Book of Mormon and Bible about Christ's atonement and resurrection so that all mankind can return to Him. I am a Mormon because of the peace I feel as I read the scriptures, pray, and attend church. I truly do believe with all my heart that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the Mormon church) is God's one true church on this earth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being involved in my church. Attending activities with the young adults of my ward, or helping my mom teach the five-year old children on Sundays brings me closer to those who share my beliefs. Being an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints helps me build my faith and remember that serving others is not only strengthening for them, but also for me. Praying every day for God to help me with my life and to give me more faith to get through each day has helped me immensely. Not only do I have more strength during the hardest times, I also am more aware of the needs of others around me and how I can best help them. I live my faith by making my faith in God a priority in my life.
