Hi I'm Genny

I grew up in Boise, Idaho. I graduated high school in 2015 and I have completed one semester at BYU-Idaho. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I've completed one year of college at BYU-Idaho. I love playing trombone, running, drawing, reading, singing, and all kinds of things. I'm preparing to serve a mission, which I'm really really excited about. I have 4 brothers and 4 sisters and I'm the 7th born.

Why I am a Mormon

Well, for one things, I was raised as a Mormon. However, that is not the only reason. Obviously, not everyone who was raised with Mormon standards keeps the faith. It's hard work to stay in the church, even if you were raised in it. I have two siblings who left the church because they "didn't know if it was true." Well, I do know that it is true. This is because I have studied the scriptures, prayed, and pondered them, and have done my best to live by the principles taught in them. For me, it's a lot easier to understand the Book of Mormon than it is to understand the Bible. I think it's probably because of the number of times it was translated and changed, but the Joseph Smith Translation does make it a lot more understandable and it begins to make a lot more sense. I know that the gospel is true, because they spirit and the things that have happened in my life and the lives of others have testified of these things to me. Oh, and it makes me feel happy even when I think happiness isn't possible. The power of prayer and the Holy Ghost is real, as well as the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I don't currently have a calling in the ward, but whenever someone needs help, I will help them. I just returned from college in April and the stake/ward boundaries changed, so I don't have a visiting teaching assignment right now. I did it every week when I was at college, though. The ladies I visited always appreciated me coming to see them and we always had very spiritual experiences with that kind of thing. I'm excited to go out as a missionary to help share the gospel with those who want to know the truth. I have a strong testimony of the gospel and I am excited to serve and teach where I am needed.
