Hi I'm Derek

I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome at a young age. Through my trials I have relied on the lord for my support. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Provo, Utah, but I spent most of my childhood living in northern Ohio. From a very young age I had a great interest in learning, and learned how to read by the age of five. However, I was also diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome, a variety of autism. While this did not affect my passion for learning, this made it very hard to connect with my fellow man. There were many times in my life that I felt lost and confused, but with a great deal of support I made it through. I relied heavily on the Lord to give me strength, and my testimony has been strengthened because of it.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the Lord has given me much strength in my life. Without relying on the Lord, I would not have been able to make it through the many difficulties having a mental disability presents. I know this church is true, because the Lord has always been there for me, to give me strength to keep moving forward, even when I feel hopeless.

How I live my faith

In my years as a young man, I have almost always been part of a smaller ward, with few other young men. In these situations, I always strived to keep myself worthy, so that I could fulfill my priesthood duties in helping with the sacrament.
