Hi I'm Laura Irizarry

I am a sister. I am a daughter of God. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in New Jersey but moved to Utah when I was just 6 years old. I am currently attending a University and majoring in Medical laboratory Science. I graduated last year from high school and also earned my associates in science. I plan to continue and further my education to achieve a masters as a Physician Assistant. I grew up with just knowing my mother. My mother has been my example and role model since I was small. She has helped to form the women I am today. I am so very grateful to have her as my mother. I have 3 other sisters that I love so dearly. My sisters are my friends. I love to participate in service work. I helped build 8 homes last year and look for more opportunities to serve.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because His gospel brings joy and peace to my life. His doctrine and teachings are inspired and help to edify you as a person. The gospel has helped me to know my importance as a daughter of God. This gospel has also helped me to learn and love others as God did. His gospel inspires me to continue in Jesus Christ's path and to walk in righteousness. I know that this gospel is true and that it can change a person, like it has changed me to want to be a better person.

How I live my faith

I have worked with the youth in our ward. I have participated and accompanied the young women in our ward as they have prepared and attended girls camp. Girls camp is a week long experience that the young girls can participate in. It is at girls camp that the girls can learn to love, be patient and learn their importance and worth. Girls camp is a spiritual escape from the world. It is a time to relax and feel the love the Lord has for them.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Laura Irizarry
All Mormons are not required to serve a mission however, it is strongly encourage by our prophets that we share our gospel with those that we know or meet. Serving a mission is a personal decision. When we take that decision we commit to serving the Lord for a certain period. Serving a mission requires a lot of dedication and study. Missionaries are sent to preach and serve those of our faith and those that are not. Missionaries are typically noticed by their attire and a plaque worn with their name. Show more Show less
