Hi I'm Maddie

Art Historian, Traveler, Student, Sister, daughter and a Mormon

About Me

I have traveled to 19 different countries and am pursuing a degree in Art History at Utah State University. There are six people in my family, and my parents met in Geneva, Switzerland. As I have grown and matured, I have developed a strong belief in self-reliance, and believe this is the only way we can help those around us.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I believe this church to contain the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ here on earth. I love the holy Bible, but I love it because I love the Book of Mormon. As I have read of Jesus Christ's coming to visit the people of the Ancient Americas in the Book of Mormon, I have come to know that he has not forgotten us - any of us! He truly took care of His "other sheep." I am a Mormon because I believe in God the Eternal Father and in his Son Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost. I believe in the ordinances of the temple, and that families can be together forever. I know that for many centuries after the original Apostles of Christ died, our earth went through an Apostasy ( the fullness of truth and priesthood authority was taken from the earth), but that it has been restored though the prophet Joseph Smith. At a young age of 14 he was blessed with visits from Heavenly angels and from our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ himself. If we open our hearts to the truth it will fill our whole soul, until we cannot deny it- ("Light and darkness cannot exist in the same place at the same time".). I am a Mormon because I love the Savior Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because this faith has given me an understanding of where I came from, where I am going, and who God is, and my relationship to Him as His daughter.

How I live my faith

I believe that love and compassion are very important in any faith - being a follower of Christ or a Mormon- these attributes are very important. As I have gotten older I have prepared to serve as a missionary and have recently been called as a full-time missionary for the church in the Canada Calgary Mission. Missionaries teach all those around them the truth of the Book of Mormon and the Holy Bible, and how to live clean, Christ-centered lives. I believe nobody is perfect, but if we take the name of our Savior Jesus Christ upon us we can be made perfect, through baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost and repentance.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a compiled book of many records. These records come from Prophets living in the Ancient Americas. Each of these prophets testified of the life of Jesus Christ. That is why on the front of the Book of Mormon, it says "Another Testament of Jesus Christ". Many of the signs of the Savior Jesus Christ's coming into the world that we read about in the Bible are also spoke of in the Book of Mormon. These records were hidden in the earth for many years until a young Boy Joseph Smith prayed to know what the truth was, and God revealed them to him, God gave Joseph Smith the golden plates. Joseph Smith Translated the Book of Mormon into English but the power of God. We are blessed to have this book, it is the most accurate of all scripture on earth and it comes from our Heavenly Father. Moroni 10:4 "And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost."
