Hi I'm Kayla Spencer

Utah made. Mexico bound. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I studied at BYU-Hawaii for a year and am now preparing to serve a full time mission in Pachuca, Mexico. I am an English Major and I love to read and write. I enjoy hiking, playing tennis, and traveling.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church, but didn't really gain a tried and true testimony until I was studying abroad in Spain. Being without my family in a foreign place led me to turn to my Heavenly Father and come to know Him in a way that wouldn't have been possible had I stayed in Utah. The light and comfort I found within the Gospel in my darkest hours continues to shine even on my best days. It has been by and through my knowledge of God's love for me that I have come to know Him and trust in His plan for me as I journey through my life here on earth.

How I live my faith

I am a Sunday School teacher for the youth in the Spanish Branch. I love teaching and being with the youth; their eagerness to learn and grow is highly contagious.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Kayla Spencer
No, despite popular belief, Mormons do not worship Joseph Smith. We accredit him what we call The Restoration. He was the man who restored God's one and only true church back on earth after The Apostasy; a period in which the Gospel ceased to exist on earth. Joseph also translated The Book of Mormon, another book of scripture that is vital to our beliefs. Like it says on the cover, The Book of Mormon is "another testament of Jesus Christ". We worship Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ, the two of whom the book testifies of. We are grateful for the devotion and sacrifice shown by our beloved Brother Joseph, but we do not worship him. Show more Show less
