Hi I'm Alva Swanson

I grew up in Bonners Ferry Idaho. I enjoy outdoor activities such as running, mountain biking, and skiing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Alva, and I love to do anything that involves being in the outdoors; skiing, running, mountain biking, hiking, etc. I ran cross-country and Track all 4 years of high school, and ran at State cross-country meets twice. I enjoy living on the more adventurous side, and am always up for a thrill (such as skiing double-black diamonds, mountain biking, or climbing up the middle of creeks). I am a high school graduate and have been accepted to Utah State University, and will be attending their as soon as I get off of my mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church, and for the first 16 years of my life, that was really the only reason I was very active in the Church. I mean I believed it was true, but I was basically using my parent's faith rather than my own. However about two years ago, I was able to change some of my sinful behavior, and I was able to find peace and forgiveness for my sins, due to the atonement of the Savior Jesus Christ. I have since then been doing all I can to become more like the Savior, and to follow his plan for us. I have come to know, through various testimony building experiences, that Jesus Christ is the Savior, that he called Joseph Smith Jr. to be a Prophet in these last days, and that through him the Book of Mormon was translated. I know that that book is the word of God, and that is why I choose to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I have always been pretty active in my local Ward, and I have recently been putting forth a greater effort to complete my home teaching (visiting members in the ward that I'm assigned to with a companion) assignments each month. Up until a couple of months ago I actively went to the Wednesday Night activities that our church holds for the Youth, and thoroughly enjoyed the fun times I had on those nights. I now go to the adult classes on Sunday, while occasionally helping fill in for teachers in the children's classes (primary). I leave in September 2016 for my Mission to Gilbert Arizona, where I will be teaching others about our church's beliefs, and inviting all to come unto Christ. I will be serving for two years, teaching about the restored gospel of the Savior.
