Hi I'm Kimi Davis

Hi! I've been a member all of my life and have a strong testimony in the church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm Kimi! I am heading to South Carolina in a few weeks for an 18 month mission. After high school I completed one year of college for Theatre but have decided to take a break to serve as a missionary. I love to sing, act, write and I love theater. I come from a family of five kids. My older brother served as a missionary in Ukraine and is now going to BYU. Then I have three younger siblings still living at home. I enjoy playing the piano and the violin as well. I also LOVE animals - my favorite is cats.

Why I am a Mormon

Well, my parents, my grandparents, my great-grandparents, etc were all members of the church but I have come to learn for myself that this is the Lord's true church established again on the earth. There's always bumps in the road, life's not perfect even when you've been in the church your whole life. I suffer from many emotional struggles and for a while felt like no one understood me. I began to distance myself from people, spending a lot of time alone. My room became my sanctuary and the place I spent most of my time, writing stories, singing along to songs, or playing with my cat. My cat was really the only member of my family that I enjoyed being around. I felt like I was different from my family because they were all so spiritual, and I wasn't. I started hanging out with people who didn't have the same standards as the LDS religion and was uncertain on whether or not I believed in the church. But then, God put someone in my life. A good friend that showed me what my standards should be and how happy the gospel could make you. My interest in being religious was sparked and every since then, I have earnestly sought out the truth and have found it for myself. It gives me such peace to know that families can be together forever and that husbands and wives can be sealed together to live together forever. It's also makes me happy to know that I have a Father in heaven who loves me and is trying to help me know what's best for me. I know that Christ's atonement is very important to help me when I make mistakes and I know I need to repent and try to be better and make improvements in my life. The need to repent doesn't make you a bad person, repent also means to change. Find a new purpose. I have found a new purpose in my life, to serve the Lord and that is why I decided to give up 18 months of my life to serve a mission. I KNOW that this church is true. I have been given solid proof and my testimony is strong. I love Heavenly Father and my Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

I am currently attending a Young Single Adult ward near my parent's home but while I was at college last year I attended a Student ward there. I served as a Sunday School teacher and as a Visiting Teacher. My partner was a Chinese foreign exchange student so that was pretty interesting. My neatest experience was helping the missionaries teach one of my good friends at school. She was baptized this past June and it was at that time that I decided I would really like to serve a mission.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Kimi Davis
We have been given a gift, the Book of Mormon, and when we read it, the Holy Ghost with testify to us of it's truthfulness and of Jesus Christ. We can also say our daily prayers to strengthen our testimony. Sharing the gospel with others can also increase your faith in Jesus Christ. Show more Show less

Who was Joseph Smith?

Kimi Davis
Joseph Smith was just a normal young boy who was born in a time of religious confusion. So many churches were being created and all of the different leaders would stand out on posts and raise their church up while bashing on others. Joseph wasn't sure which one to join, they all read the same Bible and yet each one had a completely different view on religious truths. He decided to ask God since it says in the Bible in James 1:5 "if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God". So Joseph prayed to God humbly to know which church to join. God and His Son, Jesus Christ, appeared to Joseph Smith just like in the Bible when God spoke to Samuel the prophet, and told Joseph that none of the churches were true. The spoke truth, but their hearts were not focused on God. Through Joseph Smith, Heavenly Father restored the true church of Jesus Christ and appointed prophets to once again give us guidance just like they did in the days of old. Joseph Smith was our first prophet in modern days, but our prophet today is Thomas S. Monson. Show more Show less
