Hi I'm Rachel

I'm currently serving a mission in the Phillipines. I love every season in Utah. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm towards the end of a pretty big family. I am continuing the tradition of my family by attending Brigham Young University. The two main topics of our household are: sports and music. I love watching and playing sports, the main sport being basketball. But all 7 kids in my family took piano lessons in addition to the sports. Another favorite activity of mine is watching Disney movies. My little brother and I love to quiz each other with quotes and/or song lyrics and the other has to guess which Disney movie it comes from.

Why I am a Mormon

I am SO grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I can't imagine my life without the gospel of Jesus Christ in it. When I follow the counsel of my leaders and I abide by the principles found in the Book of Mormon, my life is fantastic! I have pure joy! The best part about my pure joy, is the fact that I am choosing it for myself. I am making the decision to obey the commandments of God, but not because someone is forcing me to, but because I want to obey. I know that when I obey, I experience joy and happiness. I know that living the doctrine of Christ allows happiness to enter into our lives.

How I live my faith

I love living the principles taught in my faith, whether it be participating on Sundays at church, or being involved with those in my community throughout the other days of the week. My most recent responsibilty in my ward was working with the Music Committee. Basically, every month we would meet and decide which songs were going to be sung each Sunday meeting. I really enjoyed this because music has a special place in my heart and I know that it can touch the hearts of others as well. We were able to choose songs that correlated with the designated topic of the Sunday meeting, and therefore, we were able to add a special feeling and spirit to the meeting. Music is important to a lot of people and can really help someone build their personal testimony. Another opportunity I had in my ward was visiting teaching. This is where my companion and I would visit the homes of 2 of our fellow sisters in the ward at least once a month. We would get the chance to sit down and talk with them about whatever they needed to talk about and also provide any service that they might be in need of. We would share together our thoughts of a gospel related message where we all would learn from each other. We received hope from one another's words and strength to carry on with the rest of our week.
