Hi I'm Hayden

I was born and raised in Idaho, United States. I love to adventure and serve. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love climbing mountains, snowboarding, longboarding, backpacking, and spending time in the outdoors in general. I love working with my hands to create art such as painting, woodcarving, metalwork, scrimshaw, and marquetry. I will be serving a mission in Ecuador, and then going to school at BYU-Idaho and later on at BYU, studying Mechanical Engineering. I love to serve other people, and I especially love giving flowers to people because of the happiness it spreads.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church, but even though I was always surrounded by the gospel, I have felt the significant strength found in the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have struggled with my education, and with relationships, and through my obedience to God's commandments I have learned that the biggest reason that I have been able to make it through is by the strengthening and enabling portions of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I have now been reading in the scriptures and praying at least once every day for four years, and I have found the strength that comes through those words. My dad always tells me that the way I can make it through life's difficulties is through increased prayer, scripture study, and service. I have a testimony of those principles, because I have practiced them every single day and I have found that no matter how down on myself I am, no matter how much pain I am in (physical or emotional), and no matter how discouraged and unmotivated I am, I can always find ways to make it through as long as I rely on the Lord through prayer, scripture study, and service.

How I live my faith

I previously held a position in the church where I led a group of 16-18 year-old boys in activities and church meetings. I am active in my calling as a home teacher, often visiting and teaching an elderly couple. I have learned to love people more and more through serving them. I pray every single day to find people to serve, and then I keep my eyes open throughout the day for those opportunities. I often stop and give people rides in my car, I often give people words of encouragement, and I love to make treats and bring them around to people. I am getting to the point now more than ever where I find scriptures I love and I share them with other people, hoping that they will be of use and encouragement to them.
