Hi I'm Samantha

I was born in China, adopted at two year old, and grew up in the United States. I'm serving a mission in Singapore. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in The People's Republic of China, adopted at the age of 2, and grew up in the United States of America. I am currently a college student. I have a passion for music and play multiple instruments-piano, guitar, ukulele, and violin. I love to play sports, especially golf and tennis. I love to volunteer, and enjoy my time tutoring students. They definitely keep me young. My favorite quote is, "Never look down on somebody, unless you are helping them up." I am a Christian, I am a Mormon, I am a Latter-day Saint.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have a loving Heavenly Father, and because of His love, He has created a perfect plan to return to Him. His plan included having a family unit that I have the opportunity to live with forever (even after death). His plan also included hardships and trials, which are given for our personal growth and learning. Even though we are not perfect, His plan included a Savior. Through His son, Jesus Christ, I know that the atonement was performed (meaning we can become perfect again through repentance), and that Jesus was able to overcome death and live again. Several times, I have felt the influence of the atonement in my life, and have been able to use it to help me through the hardest times. It has helped me cope with my grandmother's death, it has opened up my eyes to the tender mercies of the Lord, and it has helped me become worthy of serving a mission to share with others the love I feel Heavenly Father has for me. I know that through repentance and obedience to His commandments, I too may overcome death and live again, perfectly as His son did, and forever with the family I have here on this earth. I know this gospel is true and I know of the great love Heavenly Father has for me. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving my community. I enjoy volunteer work and sharing the talents that God gave me to help someone else find theirs. I play piano for a nursing home and Primary Children's hospital, jam out with kids in Sophie's Place (the music therapy room at Primary Children's), and tutor refugees. This brings me great joy to see the progress that each kid makes and giving them the greatest gift of all, time and love. I hope that by my efforts, these kids can see the love God has for each of them!
