Hi I'm Sierra

I was a foreign exchange student in Sweden and have now been called back to Sweden as a missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently attending Utah Valley University studying mathematics. I am also an ambassador for the university, helping with campus tours. When I get a break from school, I love reading. My family enjoys traveling and going camping. I was recently called to the Sweden Stockholm mission so I will be taking a break from school to serve the Lord and share an amazing gospel with some amazing people.

Why I am a Mormon

During my foreign exchange, my faith in the Church was tested. I was on my own halfway around the world from my family and no one on my exchange cared whether or not I was religious. My host families were not members and I truly was on my own to decide whether or not I wanted to go to church. I began having different activities planned on Sundays with my host families to get to know the country and see different sights. I would still read my scriptures on my own time but my church attendance slipped. As a few weeks passed into a month or two, I realized how easy it was for me to slip into homesickness and I found it more difficult to be happy and content in day to day life. I began planning activities around church and taking the time to attend Sunday meetings as well as Monday night activities. This was my first realization that the Church brought so much light and happiness into my life. I gained a stronger testimony of the Church and loved attending Sunday meetings and seeing not only the happiness I felt, but also how my understanding of the language only increased. When I returned home and started college, again I was on my own to decide. After a month of not attending Sunday meetings, I noticed that I wasn't doing as well as I could in school. I began attending again and saw the love of my Savior and the help I received as I was obedient to the commandments. Now, almost two years after my foreign exchange, I am preparing to go on a mission to share the gospel that has brought so much light and happiness into my life.

How I live my faith

While at school, I have the chance to attend a Young Single Adult ward. In this ward, I have been able to help coordinate weekly activities that bring us together to have fun and share our beliefs during the difficult school weeks. Being close to many other young adults who share the same beliefs is great to have the strength surrounding you. It is great to have the chance to attend the temple with friends and people your age, to have the chance to share ideas and together come closer to our Heavenly Father.
