Hi I'm Jake Burrows

I am one of 9 kids. I love to sing, and try to teach my siblings how to as well! I love being a Mormon.

About Me

I have grown up living in many different states, but Florida it is definetly home for someone like me! I love the warm weather, the beach, and the occasional Florida thunderstorm. I play guitar, and because of my passion for music, I am working towards becoming a choir teacher, to be able to help others find this passion for music as well!

Why I am a Mormon

I have 3 younger siblings, and 5 older. Many of my older siblings, for some reason or another, have chosen to not believe in God or Jesus Christ, and have not been to a church for a long time. While we are still good friends (I do love them very much!), and I strive to keep our relationships strong, I have been able to witness since I was a kid the joy that they have lacked. That joy has always been present with my younger brothers, my parents, and I, and I have seen that our hope and greatest family unity has always come from putting God first in our lives. I have come to realize that I owe everything to God! The truths that our family has found through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has brought us so close. They have given us hope in the darkest times, joy despite and through trials, and even excitement and optimism in a world that faces more pessimism than ever before! Thinking and reading of Christ and His love for others gives me strength to get up each day, look in the mirror, and promise God I will be kinder and more patient that day. Which isn't easy, believe me, but I feel strengthened all the time. The Book of Mormon also proclaims of God's mercy, and of His love for all of His children, and has given me comfort that cannot be described. I am forever greatful that Jesus Christ died for my sins, so I can become a better man every day. God really is our Heavenly Father who knows and loves each of us personally, as our FATHER- what an amazing truth that is! I am so greatful that He has allowed me to be a part of this church, that has helped me discover the truths to being happy, helping others to become happy, and how to live with Him again. I love being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I have been blessed to have been raised in the Mormon faith. For a few years, I have gotten the opportunity to visit each month of few families, see how they are doing and if I can help them, and teach them a lesson about Christ or families. The youth programs in this church are so stellar, and have helped me develop into the person I am today. Currently, I am right about to serve a 2 year mission for my church in the country of Chile. You may, as have countless of my friends, be wondering why on earth a college guy like me would sacrifice lots of money, scholarships, time to date and to go to college to go and serve strangers! The answer is simple- I prayed to know if this was God's will for me, and I have felt impressed upon my heart a resounding yes. He has filled me with love for people I have yet to meet, and filled me with so much joy in my life, so in return, this is my small way of showing my love for Him; by serving others.
