Hi I'm Elder Lilya

I grew up all over the United States. I attended the US Air Force Academy for 1 year. I'm a missionary in Japan. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My dad is in the Air Force so I grew up all over the US. I have played many sports over the years, and I love being active and getting outside. I dabble a little with the guitar. I finished 1 year at the US Air Force Academy where I studied Astronautical Engineering, and I absolutely loved it. After my mission in Tokyo, Japan, which I am currently serving, I hope to return there and continue my studies.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church, and I can't imagine my life without it. I moved a lot growing up, and the fellowship and love that the members shared with me everywhere I went always affirmed me of the truth of this gospel. My first and best friends were always within the church because of their openness and love for me as well as their diligence to live righteous lives. As a youth, my testimony was bolstered through seminary attendance as well as participating in summer church programs, like EFY, where I was brought to tears every time I attended, every time to the song "I Know That My Redeemer Lives." The Spirit and love that I felt while singing this song was probably the strongest spiritual experience I had ever felt before graduating high school. Since then, my faith has continued to be strengthened, especially during my basic training at the Air Force Academy. During what were undoubtedly the toughest 6 weeks of my life, the church never failed to put me on the edge of tears and remind me of the everlasting love and support from our Heavenly Father. Sitting in the basement of the cadet chapel with the other LDS cadets, rejoicing in the Lord through song and prayer, and listening to the testimonies of the speakers and also my brothers was one of the most spiritual experiences of my life and serves as a colossal reinforcement to my testimony that Jesus Christ lives. He is our Savior and Redeemer. I know that this is the true and living church of Jesus Christ, the very same church that He established during his ministry. I know that our prophet and apostles are called of God and lead and guide the world in righteousness, consecrating their whole lives to His ministry.

How I live my faith

I am currently a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in the Japan, Tokyo Mission. I love the Japanese people, and I am doing all I can to serve them and to bring them closer to Christ.
