Hi I'm Michael Bruno

I have seven sisters, I served a mission in France, I love biology, I'm a goober, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in the church and my family moved around a lot. I ended up working on a watermelon farm/research center in high school and it made me love working in a scientific setting with plants. I served a mission in Paris France, where I learned to love people from all walks and backgrounds of life. When I came home I started college at BYU (where I am now) and I'm studying plant genetics and biotechnology. I love learning, reading, and hanging out with my family. My seven sisters are the most amazing people in the world. I have seven nieces and nephews and my family just keeps on growing!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member of the church and my parents had very strong testimonies of the church. They had both served missions and they left strong gospel impressions on myself and my seven sisters. Unfortunately, my family is far from perfect. My parents split up when I was in high school and I struggled with the gospel. Despite my struggle, I decided to serve a mission when the time came. I served in Paris France and my weak testimony was strengthened. I loved my mission and the time I spent in France, but my real testimony was wrought from trial. Several months before I was scheduled to return home, and the day before mother's day-one of the few times missionaries are allowed to call home- my father passed away. It was incredibly difficult for me, and I was determined to return home for my father's funeral. I was allowed to call my family and a good friend of my father's before I made my decision to return home. From his council, and after a lot of prayer, I decided to stay and finish the rest of my mission. We were blessed by the Lord during my last several months and I learned that the Lord has a plan for each one of us. I know that the gospel is true and that I see my Dad again. I believe in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the concept of the eternal family. I'm a Mormon because every trial in my life has shown me that there is a God and that he loves me. I love my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I'm a family home evening coordinator for the ward. Several groups get together every Monday night and we have fun activities. It's great to get to know these people and whether it's playing glow in the dark frisbee or laser tag, Monday night is always a blast!

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Michael Bruno
The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the sacrifice of Jesus to pay the price of all the sins that have ever been, or will be committed. The atonement is ability to start over, to get rid of the baggage that weighs us down, and to live like we're supposed to. It was necessary because we needed someone to pay that price for us. We're not perfect, but we can be with his help. Show more Show less
