Hi I'm Jake

I grew up in California. I graduated from high school with the International Baccalaureate Diploma. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As stated above, I graduated from high school with the International Baccalaureate Diploma, and therefore I would describe myself as a studious person by nature. I love to study all kinds of subjects. I am also a fan of video games, movies, etc. I'd say my favorite video game is Civilization V, and my favorite movie is probably The Empire Strikes Back. I have been accepted to attend Brigham Young University after my two-year mission.

Why I am a Mormon

Many people assume that Mormons only follow the commandments that we believe the Lord has given us simply because we are forced to. They assume that our parents force us or that it is due to peer pressure, but that is not the case, at least for me. I am an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I love Jesus Christ, I want to follow Him, and I know that this Church is His Church, organized the same way His ancient Church was organized, and that He is at its head. I know that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God, that He had direct communication with God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. The evidence of this is found in the Book of Mormon. I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God. This is evidenced not only by the fact that Joseph Smith, a young farm boy with a third grade education, could not have written such a complex and non-contradictory work that contains countless Semitic patterns, but by the fact that when I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know whether it was true, I received an answer from God, just as Moroni, a prophet in the Book of Mormon, promised: "4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. 5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things." I know that Jesus Christ loves everyone on this Earth, regardless of background, and that He sacrificed His life for each of us. I know that we can return to live with our Father in Heaven once more because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. I know with an absolute certainty that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true. That's why I'm a Mormon. I promise that if you, too, read the Book of Mormon and pray about it sincerely, you will receive an answer and find the happiness I have.

How I live my faith

Although I do very much enjoy video games, movies, etc., I am giving all of that up for two years to serve a mission in Japan. On this mission, I will be going around an assigned area trying to teach people about the thing that has brought me so much happiness in my life: the gospel of Jesus Christ. I want them to feel the same way I do. I want them to know the happiness I do. I begin this exciting journey later this Summer and am looking forward to serving the people of Japan for that duration of time.
