Hi I'm Sam Squires

I love performing for others in singing, dancing, and in music, as well as through card magic. I'm an eagle scout. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

A large part of my love and life goes to music and performing. When I was seven, I began learning piano, and have continued that love to this day. In addition to that, I have learned both the clarinet and bassoon, as well as singing, dancing and acting. I have participated in many musicals, and have enjoyed each of them. In addition, I also learned some card tricks and have enjoyed making people smile with my sleight of hand. I just completed my High School education, and intend to continue to college, where I will major in Biophysics. However, I will first take a break for two years and serve a mission for my church in São Paulo Brazil. I am excited to give these years in service to the Lord and the people in Brazil1!

Why I am a Mormon

Though I grew up in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I had to become converted to the gospel myself. For me, someone with many questions and uncertainties, this meant that I had to act and search for the answers to my questions. Over time, lots of scripture reading, praying, and talking to a few key people, I recieved my answer. I noticed that whenever I read the scriptures and followed their teachings, I felt a happiness and freedom unlike anything else I had experienced. Now, my journey is not over; there are still many things that I don't understand. Yet, what I do know is this: that we have a Heavenly Father, and that he loves us; that Jesus Christ came to earth and paid for our sins, sorrows, and weaknesses so that we could be free from those burdens if we repent and turn to him; that death is not the end, but that we will see our loved ones again; and that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God, that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ, and that we have a true and living prophet today.

How I live my faith

I believe that to truly live my faith, I must make it more than something I do on Sundays or with members of my church. Throughout the week at school, I constantly look for the sad, stressed, or downtrodden people and do what I can to lift them up. Though I am careful not to impose my beliefs onto anyone, I am not afraid to share my faith either. I try to listen to the Holy Spirit, and if I feel that there's a part of my faith that I need to share with someone, I don't hesitate. I try my best to keep myself spiritually clean by living God's commandments so that I can continue to help others, in particular the greatest commandment: love. I also can be often seen wearing my T-Shirt with "Mormon Dude" on it (shaped like "Mountain Dew"). I find it a firm, yet gentle way to let people know my beliefs and what I stand for. :)
