Hi I'm Don Keith

I was born in Canada and moved to the USA in 1975. I recently started a non-profit organization to help others. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've had a lot of great experiences in my life and am now retired and still enjoying life. I have enjoyed flying, boating hiking and travelling but am at a point in life where I am at home most of the time. I enjoy the door to the world that the internet provides. I have six wonderful children and two equally great step-children and a growing number of grandchildren. They are all a great source of joy.

Why I am a Mormon

In my early youth, I was raised in the Mormon faith by a loving mother. My parents were divorced and though I had a great Dad, I didn't see much of him in my younger years. After my mother re-married, I lived on a farm in Southern Alberta with her and a step-father who I did not appreciate at that time. At the age of 15, I left that environment and moved to the big city to live with my Dad and step-mother. Because my Dad was not LDS and because I had a new life style of abundance and many fun activities available every Sunday, I soon strayed from the religious activity of my youth. Around the age of 19, I started thinking a lot more about religion again and realized that I still believed in many of the teachings of my youth. Believing however was not enough. I needed to know with certainty if I was going to modify my active life of personal pleasure seeking. The scripture in the Book of Mormon from Moroni 10: 4- 5 became immensely important to me at that time. It said: 4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. 5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things. I really wanted to know whether this book was the true word of God. I was willing to read it with real intent ( that is, intending to try and follow it's teachings if I really could know for sure that God was there, that He loved me and that this was God's word). I read the Book of Mormon with that real intent. I prayed sincerely to know if it was true. In a period of three days, I came to know with absolute certainty, that the Book of Mormon is indeed God's word and a wonderful companion set of scriptures to the Holy Bible. I knew this by the power of the Holy Ghost. My life changed for the better forever!

How I live my faith

I love it when I am able to serve others in my Church and in the world. My first significant church service was when I served a mission for the LDS Church in New York City during the time the World's fair was there. Since then, I served in many capacities within the LDS Church and have also been deeply interested in and involved with family history research and sharing for many decades. Recently, in these retiring years and after being confined to my home for a large part of each day, I became re-engaged in both my church service and with a new non-profit organization I founded to help me and others maximize the good that we can do in the world. I find that for me, joy in life comes most fully when I am interacting, loving and being of service to others.
