Hi I'm Daphne

I am a Mormon and am enjoying being a missionary in historic Nauvoo, Illinois.

About Me

My husband Larry & I have been married 50 years. Our family is very important to us. Our 6 children are all married now, with their own families. Our grandchildren are such a great delight to us. I really enjoy cooking for family gatherings, sewing, playing the piano, being with friends, attending church activities, and doing some traveling.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon all of my life, as well both my parents, all 4 grandparents and on to my second, third and fourth great grandparents. It is a most happy heritage as Mormons. But at some point, every individual person had to gain their own personal understanding, testimony and conversion in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to be able to fully enjoy and live their religion, and reap those blessings. The amazing blessings that I have felt as well as physical and spiritual evidences in living my religion have given me great peace and abundant happiness all my life. This is not to say I have been without difficulties and trials, because we all have plenty of those. But the strength to overcome and withstand adversity and challenges comes directly from my faith in my Heavenly Father, His Beloved Son and through the Gift of the Holy Ghost. I am most happy to be a Mormon.

How I live my faith

While our children were still at home, I enjoyed working in Cub and Boy Scouting, Parent Teachers Association on the elementary and high school levels, and teaching piano in our home. Attending church worship every Sunday and weekly church activities were very important in helping us raise our family. We participated in all the wonderful, supportive activities for young children, teens and college-age youth and I was able to teach and be a youth leader in each age group. I also greatly enjoyed teaching early morning seminary (gospel study before their daily high school classes started) for high school teens for 7 years. In our home we had daily family prayer, weekly family home evening, Sunday worship and meals together every day to help solidify our family. Now, in retirement, my husband and I have loved serving in the Los Angeles CA LDS temple, and at this time we feel especially blessed to be on a mission at the Nauvoo, Illinois temple.
