Hi I'm Alysée [allie-zay]

I'm a French girl living in the States. I'm a violinist, an outdoor enthusiast, and a Mormon.

About Me

I'm from Paris France and Holladay Utah. I've also lived in a French island in the South Pacific, and in a corn-field town in Illinois: two extremes for sure... I speak three languages and love traveling. I'm often seen as a "classy" gal because I enjoy fine chocolates, assortments of European cheeses, and because I'm a classical violinist (12 years and counting). Also because I'm super tiny and FRENCH, and do have a sophisticated/sassy side. But don't get me wrong. I love to get down and dirty with camping, hiking, biking, rock climbing and co. I'm very far from a sports pro (very far) but because of my love for playing and watching sports I ignore my athletic inability and JUST DO IT. If you know me you also know that I love anything MEDICAL. I'm at Brigham Young University studying physiology (the human body and God's greatest creation!) Laughing is great. So are rainy days. I'm taking a break from school to be a Spanish-speaking missionary for the church in Boston, Massachusetts which includes 5 of the 6 New England states. So excited to serve! But most important about me is that I love my Savior and the joy that His gospel brings to my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the Church, meaning that my parents were Mormons when I was born. When I was very young I wanted to know for myself if the Mormon faith was right for me because I did not want to be a blind follower of my parents. I read the Book of Mormon and followed the teachings of Jesus Christ and of the prophet and apostles as well as obeyed the commandments and soon saw the joy that I felt when I drew closer to my Father in Heaven by doing these things and by praying to Him. I knew then that I wanted to be a follower of Jesus Christ. I am a Mormon because I believe that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, which means that God continues to speak to His children through prophets. I am a Mormon because I know the Book of Mormon and the Bible to be the word of God. I am a Mormon because I know that this church is the church of Jesus Christ restored on the earth.

How I live my faith

I think that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a difference, and that's a large part of how I live my faith. Service to the people around me. I helped plan and carry out activities for the youth in my church throughout junior high and high school. I also volunteered my time tutoring students in some subjects. Now graduated, I continue to look for opportunities to serve those around me. Earlier this year I went to Honduras as a medical assistant to help treat severe cases of venous varicosities and ulcers. I'm also living my faith by serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, a service that lasts 18 months. I have been called to be a representative of Jesus Christ in Boston, Massachusetts, speaking Spanish! I am excited to share my testimony with everyone I meet there and to help bring others unto Christ.
