Hi I'm John

I grew up in Idaho. I am studying to become an engineer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in Idaho, and I am a senior graduating from high school this year. I am planning to go to college to become a civil engineer. I enjoy music, art, fishing, hiking, hunting, rock climbing, snowboarding, skiing, and spelunking. I used to mow lawns as a summer job, and now I work as a tour guide. I have earned my eagle scout award. I am preparing to serve a mission and am greatly looking forward to it.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints contains the fullness of the gospel of Christ and that Christ is true leader of this Church. I have studied the scriptures to learn Christ's teachings, and this Church follows them. I have prayed to know and have had the spirit confirm to me on multiple occasions that this church is true. This Church has the same organization that Christ established while He was on the earth, with prophets and apostles receiving revelation in order to guide His Church. I know that God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith and called Him to restore Christ's church to the earth and bring back the fullness of the gospel. I know that the leaders of this Church have the proper authority from God to perform the ordinances of salvation. I know that the Book of Mormon is true and that it was translated by the power of God, and that it is another testament of Jesus Christ and His role as our Savior and Redeemer. I know that Christ atoned for our sins so that through Him we can become clean. I know that He has felt all of our pains, sicknesses and afflictions so that He knows what we are going through and how best to help us (Alma 7:11-13). I know that through Him we can be perfected and return to live with our Father in Heaven someday. I know that we are children of God, and that He loves us. I know that we lived in His presence before this life, and that He has a plan for us to come to this earth to grow and develop, and return to His presence someday. I know that the commandments he gives us are there to protect us, not to restrict us. I know that this Church is true, and that's why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by going to my Church meetings each Sunday. We have an early morning mission prep class, then sacrament meeting, Sunday school, and priesthood meeting later in the day. I have served as the deacons and teachers quorum president, and am currently the first assistant to the bishop. Our Sunday meetings are always a place that we can feel the Spirit, and I always learn a lot from the messages that are shared there. I have had the opportunity to attend seminary for four years. There we learn about eternal truths found in the Old Testament, the New Testament, The Book of Mormon and the Doctrine and Covenants. All of these books of scripture testify of Jesus Christ, His Atonement, His infinite love for us, and His teachings.
