Hi I'm Melissa Reeve

I am from San Fransisco, California and am currently studying at Brigham Young University.

About Me

I am a student at Brigham Young University and I love anything that is related to sports or the outdoors. I have five siblings, I am the third child in my family. I will soon be leaving to serve an 18 month mission to New York City, speaking Spanish!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents have been faithful members their whole lives so I grew up going to church every week along with praying and reading scriptures as a family every night. I have always loved going to church and learning more about Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, even when I was little. As I reached middle school, I started to study and pray more earnestly as I tried to more deepen my understanding of the gospel and realize the reasons behind many of the commandments. As I actively sought out ways to grow my testimony, I felt a stronger connection to God and a stronger desire to follow His guidance to us, his children, with exactness. I absolutely love this church and this gospel and I know that its teachings are true because they came directly from our omnipotent Heavenly Father. When He wants to communicate with the world, He reveals messages to the prophets who are appointed here on the earth to help us understand Heavenly Father's messages. I know that the current prophet, Thomas S. Monson, is a true and living prophet who is here on earth to lead us and give us the direction that was given to him by God. I know that the first prophet of the last dispensation, Joseph Smith, was also a true prophet who followed Heavenly Father and obeyed His commands. Because Joseph Smith was so diligent and faithful to Heavenly Father, he was blessed with the capabilities to translate The Book of Mormon correctly. I know that The Book of Mormon is a real and true book because I have read it and followed the challenge that is given in the concluding chapter which directs us to pray to ask God if the things written in the book are true. And I have, and Heavenly Father has confirmed unto me that the words and stories contained within the book are true and that if we learn and apply those teachings to our own life in these modern days, we too will be blessed and be happier people here on earth. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love me. I know this church is true.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith everyday in the way that I live my life. Jesus Christ is the only perfect man that has ever walked the earth and He is the absolute perfect example of what it means to be a Christian. Every day I try to live in a way that is pleasing unto Christ, by serving others, speaking kind words, refraining from judgement, and looking for ways to make other people happy. As I try to live my faith, I find that my own testimony and faith is strengthened and I draw closer to Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and those around me. In addition, I try to use my knowledge and experiences to affect others. One way I do this is when I teach others in church the stories from The Book of Mormon or lessons we can learn from the Bible. I love to lead discussions and hear other members' insights on the doctrines of our gospel. I also love spreading good messages to those who are not already a member of this church. I often find that I can reach more people if I use social media to spread quotes, pictures, and scriptures that uplift me in the attempts to make someone else's day a little bit brighter.
