Hi I'm Elder Draper

I grew up in Utah and Texas. I love sports and being with my family. I am a missionary. I am a student. And I am a Mormon

About Me

I first and foremost love the gospel of Jesus Christ. My belief in Him is what shapes everything I do. I leave July 6 to the MTC where I will shortly after begin my two year mission to Salem, Oregon. I have been admitted to BYU, and am blessed to have an academic scholarship. I plan to study chemical engineering there after my mission. In my free time I love to play basketball and visit with people.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this Church because this is the church of Jesus Christ, restored on the earth today. I know that because I have prayed and sought the truth of the matter for myself. You can always look for facts or events or miracles to try and prove the church is true. You can even find these examples around every corner. However, for every faith promoting truth there is a statement to oppose and contract it. For every miracle there is a rationalization to be offered. The only way to know for sure is to trust and believe that the Lord will let YOU know for yourself. You only have to WANT to believe at first. As you act and take that leap of faith, the Lord will not disappoint you. He will provide you with what you need, when you need it. You only need to turn to Him and ask Him sincerely. I am also a Mormon simply because it brings me shear joy. Not the temporal pleasures of the world. But lasting, even eternal, happiness that fills my whole soul with peace. That is the reason why whenever I realize I'm starting to leave the path the Lord wants me to follow. I quickly seek forgiveness, because just as soon as I stay, I start to feel His Spirit stray from me. That peace and joy will depart, replaced by the emptiness of the world, until I get back on the path. It is this joy that motivates me to share what I have with others. This desire to share with others is what is motivating me to set aside all personal affairs and schooling to serve the Lord and help share this marvelous Gospel.

How I live my faith

I am very active at church. Right now I am a teacher for the men. It is excellent preparation for my mission. I love the Lord and know this is His church. Knowing that makes being involved in this church one of my highest priorities after my family. I recently graduated Seminary. Seminary is like Sunday School every morning BEFORE actual school. It began at 6 am and ran about an hour. This in and of itself can be seen as a real test of faith, but for me it was much more of a blessing. I was able to start out every day, rain, sleet, snow, or hail, by reading and studying the words of the Lord.
